Affliate Program Manager Interview Series 41 Where do you see this industry in 2008? There has always been a need for sophisticated entertainment and as long as this need exists, we will continue to fulfill it! I see the industry only getting bigger and better! What did you do before getting into the gaming industry? I completed my Bachelor’s in Corporate Communication, and then moved on to do post-grad work in financial management. I also organized corporate end year and industry functions and really enjoyed interacting with diverse personalities. Howdidyouget into the gaming industry? When I finished my studies, I knew I wanted to work with people on a daily basis and discovered a great pool of personalities in the gaming industry. I immediately knew this was for me! What positions have you held at Golden Star? I first started as the VIP Hostess for the Golden Riviera Group, where I learned how to fulfill player needs and developed great relationships with my top VIPs (I still chat to some of them daily). I then moved on to become the Retention Manager and got more involved in the financial reporting, and developed a better understanding of the business. I was only recently promoted to Affiliate Manager, and so far I’m enjoying every moment of my job. The affiliates are so helpful and understanding and are always available to share new insights on recent developments. What do you like about the gaming industry? I find the gaming industry to be extremely dynamic; each day brings new challenges, and there are no limits to what you can achieve. Most of the people I’ve met who work in the industry are inspired by creative and innovative ideas and are driven by a positive attitude, which rubs off. So they are generally great to be around! Since the passage of the UIGEA — what has changed and how has your program adapted? Obviously the U.S. legislation has been a bit of a stumbling block, but the exciting part is finding and developing new markets. Our casinos have launched their new free-play offers which are pushing steadily along into the non-U.S. markets. We’re all confident that the free-play offers will turn out to be a huge success! Kerryn Frank Position: Affiliate Manager, Golden Star Network Preferred Pastimes: “In my free time I do Pilates to relax. I also have a very unhealthy appetite for shoes and clothes, so you’ll find me in the shops quite often. My family and friends play a really important role in my life, so I try to spend as much time with them as possible.
