GPWA Times Magazine - Issue 32 - June 2015

O nly one out of 10 magazines that publish their first issue in a given year will still be publishing one year later, according to Cheryl Woodward, author of Starting & Running a Successful Newsletter or Magazine . I was, of course, quite optimistic about the GPWA Times Magazine when we published our first issue in May 2007, but I didn't think we'd ever reach the six-figure mark in terms of number of issues produced. Yes, you read that right: This is issue number 100,000 of the GPWA Times Magazine … in binary! In all seriousness, much has changed in the online gambling industry over the last eight years. In the spring of 2007, there were no mobile apps — the first version of the iPhone wasn't released until that summer. Live streaming site, the forerunner of, launched earlier that spring. And WordPress, which 19-year-old Matt Mullenweg launched with the help of a few others in 2003, was just starting to explode in popularity among webmasters. Today, online casinos and affiliates alike are trying to cash in on the mobile market by creating user-friendly apps for players; poker players are drawing huge followings by live streaming their online poker play on Twitch; and nearly one quarter of the top 10 million websites use WordPress as a publishing platform, creating the opportunity for hackers to infiltrate a vast array of websites. Income Access' Allan Petrilli, GPWA Associate Editor Dan Podheiser and GPWA member Dan Horvat, respectively, address all these issues in this, our 32nd issue of the GPWA Times Magazine . This issue will first be distributed at the iGaming Super Show in Amsterdam, so if you're reading this letter at the conference, stop by the GPWA booth and say hello! And of course, if you want to receive a free copy of the magazine in the mail in the future, be sure to fill out your mailing address information in the "My Magazine Subscriptions" page under the "My Account" tab in the GPWA Forums.
