multiple options – try to develop several channels and partners – to spread your wealth earning widely. We try to work with 20 or so top programs. And here are some things that we DO NOT follow: 1. Avoiding NCO programs. Possibly the most self-damaging option to take. Our top five programs ALL have NCO. Good programs have good reporting. They share fairly and don’t hide deductions and pay a fair percentage. Programs that advertise no NCO cannot sustain an extended run of win/lose. It’s not mathematically possible. So they tend to have hidden things or bad things like ... hidden shaving, hidden fees, quotas and outright fraud. Working with top programs running fair revenue share with NCO are far better than poor programs with a headline non-NCO-promise that they can only really keep through creative accounting and high “admin” fees. 2. Being overly influenced by a “good” affiliate manager. We’ve worked with some good AMs, and some great AMs, but while an AM is a big part of a program – they are not the program. Keep your eye on the program – keep your eye on the numbers – and don’t be blinded by the AM and their personality. AMs can (and do) leave a program – and then you realise that your business is with the program and management. “ Reply With Quote #10 loquax 30 March 2017, 6:57 a.m. Private Member A few more random thoughts to throw into the mix: 1. Your working time is money; spend it doing things that generate you income. 2. Work to live, don’t live to work. 3. Your health is the most valuable asset you have – look after it. 4. Don’t be afraid to walk away from anything – you’ll be stronger for it. 5. No matter how good your intentions, someone will always think the worst of you. C’est la vie! 6. Look at the bigger picture – one bad day’s revenue may be a blip in a good month. 7. Try to live below your means. 8. When an affiliate manager says others are earning £££ or $$$ – don’t believe them. 9. A new affiliate manager on a turkey of a program is just that – a new AM on a turkey of a program. Avoid. 10. Control the “controllables.” Everything else is out of your hands. Most importantly, try to enjoy it. . . “ Reply With Quote #9 whichbingo 29 March 2017, 6:59 p.m. Private Member Agree with much of the above. Here’s mine in no particular order (and these are mainly things I hear myself saying to my team): • It doesn’t matter what the deal is, work with the sites that consistently send you the biggest checks. • Don’t do rev share with brand-new sites. Work on pre- pay first, then go on rev share. • There’s enough to go round. You don’t have to be a shit. • Play the long game. • Behave professionally and courteously at all times. • There’s always a million things to do. Prioritize your workload to get the “biggest bang for your buck” on what you are doing. “ Reply With Quote w w w . g p w a t i m e s . o r g 33
