48 Lyall Edward Mc Evoy | Continued from page15 white label and thought maybe I could see similar or better re- sults! I could have not been more wrong!! Online casinos are diffi- cult industries to get into; there is just so much competition out there. To start a new casino that people haven’t seen before is very tough; you need to build a rela- tionship; make your new players feel confident about giving out their credit card details and per- sonal info. It takes a long time to do that and I just don’t have the time at the moment. My white label was like a drop in the ocean out there so I decided to focus on Flenix. So yes, I have applied the main lesson to Flenix: Research the casino first and if it’s trusted in the industry I sign up as an affiliate and list their site on Fle- nix. You can never go wrong that way! You’ve translated parts of your site into German, Japanese, Swedish, Italian and French. Yet you’ve left other parts in Eng- lish. Why did you decide to do just partial translations? I didn’t do partial translations intention- ally, I just haven’t finished it yet. I still have lots of work to do on flenix.com. I am planning to get everything up and running by the end of April. Lots of new con- tent and casinos are coming and when everything is done, all fle- nix.com pages will be translated fully! I chose to translate the sites into German, Japanese, Swedish, Italian and French because I have been watching where my main traffic is coming from, and those are ranked fairly high. (Thought it might be beneficial to have content in their own language.) ould you describe the regulato- ry/legal climate for online gam- bling in South Africa? Currently online gambling in South Africa is unregulated by the govern- ment and there are no local based online casinos here. All ‘SA Ca- sinos’ have licenses overseas but soon this will change and it will be regulated and local operators can apply for licenses. You say in your profile that Top- boss (Heather) provided the in- spiration for Flenix. How long have you known Heather? And what did she say or do that in- spired you to create your site? I got in contact with Heather about eight months ago while I was searching the Internet for other South African affiliates to compare results for the cur- rent casino I was marketing. I’ve only ‘met’ her online; we chat on MSN often. Heather inspires me every day with her very posi- tive attitude towards everything we speak about (casino related or not). She told me that starting a casino portal would better my current results and she was al- ways there to help me with every single question and/or problem that I had. How has the GPWA helped you with your work as an affiliate? GPWA has connected me to so many people in the same indus- try and we are sharing ideas and networking. GPWA has educated me a lot about this industry and the dos and don’ts of the busi- ness. Without the GPWA I don’t think I would have been where I am to- day! Thanks, GPWA!
