GPWA Times Magazine - Issue 41 - July 2018

What’s the point? NOTE: Thread was edited for length and clarity. The relationship between online gambling affiliates and so- cial media has seen its share of ebbs and flows over the years. A decade or so ago, when Facebook and Twitter were in their respective infancies, social media was the “next big thing” and everybody was looking for ways to leverage this new phenomenon to increase traffic and revenues. Then came the advent of a whole slew of new social media channels. YouTube. Instagram. Google+. SnapChat. Vimeo. And on, and on, and on it went. For some affiliates, the entire social media craze was just that. Something they tried, but ended up realizing it wasn’t worth their time or effort. For others, social media is still a vi- tal part of their marketing plan, and they wouldn’t even think of eliminating it from their daily routine. For proof, all you need to do is go to the GPWA Forum and surf through our Social Media section. There, you’ll find a number of threads where our members have differing opin- ions about their successes and failures with social media. Here, we present a recent example.
