CPA, Rev Share or Hybrid Which is your preferred commission method? Comments from GPWA members: GPWA MEMBER POLL For those of us in the iGaming affiliate business, the argument concerning which form of payment is most advantageous has always been a hot-button topic. Even for someone like GPWA member nwalker, an affiliate with decades of experience, there is no real clear-cut answer. Recently, he posted on the GPWA Forums that he typically preferred rev share, but after looking at his stats from the previous 12 months, he began to question whether or not cost per acquisition would be more optimal. “I understand the disadvantages of CPA, but with CPA, the income is more consistent month to month,” nwalker wrote. “Rev share, I find, is quite volatile. Some good months and some bad months, which seem to equal out. “The downside of CPA is obviously when you pick up a whale, but even then the yearly averages are nearly the same between rev share and CPA. I’m considering switching to CPA so income becomes more consistent.” When we opened the question up for debate in a poll, rev share remained a strong favorite for our members with 50% of respondents saying they “strongly preferred” rev share, and another 25% saying they have a rev share “preference.” See below for the voting results and a few comments from our members. Pokerface PUBLIC MEMBER Although we have been strong with rev share, we are moving more to hybrid, particularly for new programs. Unfortunately, even though programs advertise they offer hybrid, it is a real challenge to get a good deal. crowngate PRIVATE MEMBER For me, it’s rev share all the way, but I don’t have mountains of new depositors every month. I’d feel sick if I took CPA on some of the players that have been earning me rev share for almost 10 years! Dsquared PRIVATE MEMBER CPAs are my least preferred and I usually only opt to work on them in certain cases, like when the program has negative rollover and they won’t budge, or I’m not too sure about the company or casino brand. 50 % Strong Rev Share Preference 8 .33 % Strong Hybrid Preference 25 % Rev Share Preference 8 .33 % Hybrid Preference 8 .33 % Other, please explain in a post G P W A t i m e s . o r g 12
