even if you are not interested, just give a three-word response so we don’t have to keep bombarding you. “I’m not inter- ested” usuallyworks. Howdoyoumanageyour“to-do”lists?Do youuseany special software tohelpyou out? I stick to Post-its and notepads and there is no better software than a ball- point pen! Seriously, I don’t know how I work in this business as I am a techno- logically illiteratemutt. Wediscoveredyouareagraduateof theUniversity of Oregon, where you majored in journalism. So howdid a good Duck like you end up moving into the online gambling industry? Do youmiss beingon the radio (and if so, what do you miss most about it?)?Andwhydidyoumove to Israel? I decided tomove to Israel after col- lege because I needed to shake some things up in my life and wanted to join the Israeli Army as the first step into integrating myself into Israeli society. Sports journalism is still my passion and someday I intend to have my own sports radio show, but for now, gettingmyMaster’s de- gree ismymainpriority. Never did I imagine that I would be working in theonlinegaming industry;however, I needed some shift work to comple- ment my time as a student and as a result fell into the customer support team of a competitor. From there I moved into affiliates before taking the job at AffiliateWIDE to head up the program here. Being an affiliate manager is thebest job foraMaster’s student, asdealingwithaffiliates can be done 24 hours throughout the day. This is a jobwhere set hoursdonotmake sense – it is definitely better to be flex- ible throughout the day, night and early morninghours! Do you gamble yourself? If so, what games do you like to play? Were you an online player before getting into the in- dustry? In high school, after seeing the film “Rounders,” I developed a minor poker addiction that showed itself in the school cafeteria, but those days are long gone. The only time I will make a bet is with friendsover college football–andof course during March Madness; but that isnot reallygambling, is it? What advice do you have for someone just starting in the industry? Understand the players. From there, you can work in nearly every field associated within the business itself. Also, there should be a manual for abbreviations – I still find myself asking affiliates to what they are referringwhen theygivemea three-letter abbreviation! Ifyouwereatabarwithanunlimitedbud- get, whatwouldbeyour drinkof choice? I would be drinking beer and chasing it with Arak. For those of you who don’t knowwhatArak is, letmeknowand Iwill send you a bottle. Pure joy in a bottle – andat aprice thatwon’t break thebank. Who do you think is going to win the World Cup this summer? I would love to seea team fromAfrica take it, but Idonot think this is the year. Spain’s time has fi- nally arrived. This is definitely the finest team the Spaniards have put together in some time, and mixed with their group- ing, it seems like a winning combination tomakea run for it. What is the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?Why orwhy not? The last book I readwasUneasyLies theHead, the au- tobiography of the late King Hussein of Jordan. It isdefinitelya fascinatingbook, and anyonewho is interested in trying to understand Middle East politics has to read it. What is your favorite movie? And why? I am not a movie buff, but I wouldhave to say “City of God.” It is congruent with my obsession about Brazil. If youhada theme song, whatwould it be? “I’ll Make Love to You,” by Boyz IIMen. Let’s not go down that road… If you could changeone thingabout the online gaming industry, what would it be? I would love to have affiliates, players and operators all communicating equally and keeping eachother informed sonothing slips through the cracks. It would also be great if the nitwits in this business would stop making all of our lives moredifficult– that goes forall sides of the spectrum. If someone isvisitingyou, what’s the one place you have to take them to see? I amdefinitely taking them into the middle of the Negev desert in Southern Israel. I think everyperson at somepointsneeds to feel likeheor she is the only being left in the world; parts of theNegevwill definitelyget you there! What are three things thatnooneknows aboutyou? I played the violin for 10 years. I did standup comedy in college and got booedof the stage. I was arrested six times before the age of 21 – everything was expunged, though! 1. 2. 3.
