GPWA Times Magazine - Issue 18 - October 2011

What promptedyou to join theGPWA,and how has it helped you so far? I joined the GPWA as I was trying to learn more about the casino side of the industry. I used to be much more focused on poker and was an active poster at PAL. I felt that GPWA’s forum was much more focused on the ca- sino affiliate side of the industry. If you could, is there anything you’d change about the way the GPWA fo- rums are organized? I would get rid of a lot of them or make them sub-forums. I remember one of the things that held me back from posting on GPWA for a long time was I found it to be very clut- tered and hard to find what you were looking for. Time management is one of the biggest issues facing affiliates. What time man- agement tips can you offer your fellow webmasters? I am probably the worst person to ask about this, but I think you need to keep an organized schedule and stick to it. Keep the distractions such as Facebook, Twitter, TV and video games for another time and when you are sup- posed to be working, actually WORK. Do you have a smartphone? If so, in what ways, if any, do you use it in the course of operating your sites? I have an iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy S (Android) right now. I don’t really use my phone at all for operating my sites other than for replying to work-related e-mail from time to time. You mentioned recently that you have started a few non-gaming sites. Can you tell us what categories they fall into, and how they figure in your revenue stream? I used to have a business partner with a few of my sites and we had a music site and were building a few other niche- specific sites. These sites did make some money, but were relatively insignificant amounts compared to my revenue stream from gaming. I am in the process of build- ing several locally based sites and plan to start a couple of blogs that I am going to update on a much more frequent basis. If you could have dinner with any five people, living or dead, who would they be, and why? Warren Buffett – Because I know very little about stocks and figure he’d prob- ably be a good person to get some ad- vice from. Also I love everything he does with charity and how he lives a humble life even though he has so much money. 1. Eminem – I’ve always loved his music. Dave Chappelle – To add some comic relief to this dinner. Steve Jobs – One of the smartest busi- ness minds of our time. Gautama Buddha – Buddhism interests me and why not learn more about it from the expert? When you need to get as far away from work as possible, where do you go? A beach somewhere with no Internet access. How do your family and friends feel about how you make your living? They are all supportive. What are three things that nobody knows about you? I HATE public speaking and used to skip classes when I had to do presenta- tions in high school. I have fortunately become much better. I am very shy. When I was young my friend and I were caught shoplifting at a music store but I got away. The only way he would get off 2. 3. 4. 5. 1. 2. 3. was if I went back and returned the CD I took, so I did and was banned from there for one year. Every time I was with people who wanted to go there I would just wait outside or say I didn’t feel like it. What’s your all-time favorite movie, and why? I don’t think I can really narrow it down to just one, but one of my all-time favorites is Blow . I think Johnny Depp is an amazing actor and I love the story.
