GPWA Times Magazine - Issue 40- February 2018

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? If I were able to influence this industry, there are a few points I would change, starting with the fact that there are a lot of scammers and fraud- sters who are just trying to take the money and disappear. That is one factor I would try to eliminate immediately. Building upon that point, I would like to increase the trust between affiliates and operators. Another point would be to make the industry more regulated, so the so-called black sheep don’t have the option to be fraudulent anymore. In addition, I would take the responsible gaming part a lot more seriously. I know this seems like a bad point for operators, but people have to be aware of the risks given in the industry. Tell us about your typical work day. Well, to me routine is a killer, so I always try to make my day different from the previous one. In general, it goes like this: I always start the day with a good coffee and a new acquisition. In the afternoon I keep up with my existing customers, and at night I communicate with partners who are located in other time zones. What’s the office culture like at Fair Play Partners? We are a very young and dynamic team. Everyone has a voice and can say what is on their mind. We are always looking into new opportunities which are suggested by the team. You could say our motto is: Everyone is equal. If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go? It would be Giza in Egypt. I’ve been there already a few times but it’s always nice to see it again. When you’re standing in front of the pyramids and you get that feeling where you can reach everything when you have the right motivation – that is what makes it so special. As well as the history of Egypt, just imagining that there are so many years between us in comparison to our lifetime. What was the last book you read? The last book I read was How to Make Friends , by Dale Carnegie. A must-read for everyone who works in sales or retail. Do you prefer surfing the web via desktop, laptop, mobile phone or tablet? As most of the time I am running from appointment to appointment, it’s quite nice to use the phone. Small, compact and efficient. What’s your favorite movie? I don’t have any particular favorite movies; it’s more a genre that takes my attention. I like movies based on real stories like Lord of War , Flight or Captain Phillips . What amazes me about these kinds of movies are how the main characters found unconventional solutions for unconventional situations. If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be? I would pick just one and it would be someone coming from the same city as me, and his name is Amschel Mayer Rothschild. Name one thing that people reading this magazine don’t know about you. Before I came into this industry, I was a military police officer stationed in Afghanistan investi- gating war crimes. I think that the industry has lived through a lot of changes in the last decade and has always re-established itself . This, I think, is a great attitude that everyone shouldadopt for themselves, whether in the gambling industryornot . AFFILIATE MANAGER INTERVIEW Maximilian Solz | Fair Play Partners W W W .
