A s we all know, there is much more to building a successful affiliate marketing website than sim- ply generating content and surrounding it with a bunch of banners. In fact, there is some question as to whether banner ads are still an effective and worthwhile tool for webmas- ters, as seen by a recent post on the GPWA Forums. When the question was posed by private member “worthy,” his fellow affiliates came forward with an array of different opinions. Some commented that they no longer used ban- ners. Others said that banners were still an important part of their strategy, with a few more stating that they can be useful, but only if used correctly. In a nutshell, this is exactly the kind of conversation that makes our forums so compelling. Oftentimes there is no simple answer, and we all benefit from hearing opinions from both sides of the equation. Excerpts from the thread are presented in the following pages.
