Instead of having them in the sidebar or anywhere people will ignore, I use them as CTAs in menus, pop-ups and such. However, if you mean just putting banners all over your site, I haven’t done that in years. So five clicks per 10,000 impressions is really not a box office smasher. Perhaps one can impress his girlfriend with — in his opinion — a thrilling banner. I occasionally use a logo to promote the more successful brands on the front pages. Just make sure you’re not relying on them completely for your clicks or to get your message across. I think I have maybe one banner on the casino site.
