What are your hobbies? What takes up your time when you are not working? Most of my free time is spent with my family. I have two daughters and they are the same as my wife, they just can’t spend a weekend sitting at home, so we usually go to some places, whether it is nature, the sea, the amusement park in the summertime or ice sculpture show, ice-skating or movies in the wintertime. What’s your favorite movie of all time and why? Wow, this is a hard question, there are a lot of great movies. You probably think I will say “Rounders” or “Casino.” But my favorite actor of all time is Morgan Freeman and my favorite movie of his is definitely “The Bucket List.” But to name the greatest movie of all time – “The Pursuit of Happiness” is No. 1 for me. If someone from out of town came to visit you for 24 hours in Latvia, where would you take them and why? We would start with the old part of Riga, some really great architecture there that any visitor should see. Would also show the beaches we have (so they should come in summer). And then it depends on the person, what he likes the most as we have some great national parks (Dzintari, Kemeri, Gauja), castles (Turaida, Cesis Medieval Castle or Sigulda Castle) and museums (Motor Museum, Museum of the Occupation). If that person is crazy enough, I would send him to Karosta Prison (quite a popular tourist attraction) or push him down in a bobsleigh. Or let him jump off a tower with a rope (that is what I did at my bachelor party). If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be? Really hard to choose just three. But I would say Zinedine Zidane, Freddie Mercury, and Morgan Freeman. Name one thing that people reading this magazine don’t know about you. I once went to my friend’s fancy wedding in slippers. Suit and slippers, seriously. Long story short: I forgot the shoes and the wedding was over 100km away from home. Luckily one of my friends had two pairs of shoes with him, so I borrowed them for the wedding. Lucky me! Spinwise is available in a diverse collection of markets, including Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland and New Zealand, to name a few. How do these markets differ and how were they chosen to focus on? It depends on various aspects. Most important are the licensing in the local market, payment methods, and player behavior, to name a few. Before going into a new market, there is a lot of background work that needs to be done. Some sleepless nights while doing the planning and off we go! What are the keys to a beneficial working relationship between an affiliate manager and an affiliate? Trust and understanding that the relationship has to work both ways, it is not a one-way street. I would say that without these two, there simply can’t be any partnership between the affiliate and affiliatemanager. Some human characteristics will only strengthen the relationship. It is nice when both parties are polite, understand each other, and can joke from time to time. Makes the job easier, in my opinion. Do you gamble at land-based casinos or online? I love sports, as mentioned before, so from time to time, I do some sports betting. I bet on football, ice hockey (very popular in Latvia) and basketball, sometimes tennis (only the Grand Slam events), and boxing/MMA when some big events are happening. I have also played slots, but that is not really my thing. And I have done that both online and in land-based casinos (also, don’t tell my wife). I would say that without these two, there simply can’t be any partnership between the affiliate and affiliate manager. G P W A t i m e s . o r g 66
