GPWA Times Magazine - Issue 56 - July 2023

In 2015, you stated that if you could change one thing in the industry, it would be “to have more companies be held responsible for the terms and conditions that they understood and agreed upon when the affiliate signed up.” Do you feel companies are making progress in this area or is there still a long way to go? I continue to believe that all companies should be held responsible for their terms and conditions that they understood and agreed upon when the affiliate signed up. It has been my experience since 2015 that some companies have made progress toward being more responsible, while others have a long way to go. What about SEO? What’s changed in that realm since we last spoke to you? So much has changed, like with Google’s algos like RankBrain, helpful content update, BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers), and others. I spend the majority of the day managing SEO. I also have some people that give me a hand with that because it has become increasingly more difficult. Content is still king, but there is so much more that goes into it. When you were growing up, what profession did you dream about getting into? That’s a really good question! Since the days when Nintendo was new, I always wanted to design video games. I enjoyed the challenge and loved the graphics. I would attain all of the knowledge I could regarding the strategies to win! It’s interesting to think that as an adult, my profession involves helping others to learn strategies to be successful in their favorite games. Do you still practice martial arts in particular Hapkido and Taekwondo? What else do you do when you’re not working? I do practice my taekwondo forms, kicks and strikes by myself. I started to train in Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu jitsu. It is one of my favorite hobbies and a great exercise. Aside from martial arts, I enjoy playing the guitar and hanging out with my puppy for relaxation. When we last spoke in 2015, you told us that Back to the Future 2 was your favorite movie. If you could get in a DeLorean time machine and go back to when we last spoke, what is something surprising that you would tell yourself about the online gambling industry? I would tell myself to get started earlier than when I was in college in the 1990s. I would also stress the importance of SEO and how fast things change. Previously you said if you could invite any five people, living or dead, to dinner that you would invite Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Sun Tzu, and Niccolò Machiavelli. Would you still invite the same people or would you subtract and add new people? If so, why? I would add Ralph Waldo Emerson, Confucius, Socrates and Plato to learn more about their philosophy. I believe that it is through a positive mindset that the greatest human experience is had. I also believe that we can better prepare for the future by studying the past. If someone were visiting you in Montreal for 24 hours and had never been to the area where you live, where would you bring them and why? I would take them to our great city! There is so much to do and fun to be had! We have great restaurants and pubs! Name three things that people reading this magazine don’t know about you. 1. I love playing guitar. 2. I love history and philosophy. 3. I love to vacation and visit local casinos.
