At the time, I was working as a ghostwriter for someone else’s project, so my personal beliefs were irrelevant as long as I completed the work properly. However, it did not take long for me to realize that my assumption was wrong. Affiliate marketing can be a profitable business, but it requires constant work and a willingness to build something for the long term. If someone told you they wanted to quit their job and become a fulltime iGaming affiliate in 2026, what would you tell them? I would tell them to do their numbers and to diversify. The industry has changed substantially over the years. Ranking, attracting qualified traffic, and generating results are becoming more difficult and often take much longer than people expect, particularly with the growth of AI-generated answers and crowded search results. I would not recommend leaving a stable job based solely on optimism or on a few success stories seen online. However, if someone has assessed their personal financial situation, understands the risks, has sufficient resources, and can support themselves independently until the business is realistically expected to start paying off, then taking the leap may be a reasonable decision. Again, the decision should be based on numbers, not wishful thinking. Do you gamble? No, I do not gamble recreationally. I have visited land-based casinos and played online, but all the gambling I do is for testing and work, or as part of a social event. Your interests include reading, writing, and hiking. What are you reading right now, do you write anything outside of work, and where do you go hiking around Bogotá? I am currently finishing James by Percival Everett as part of a book club. I am also reading The Creativity Advantage by James Kaufman and Schopenhauer’s Porcupines by Deborah Anna Luepnitz. I used to write a lot outside of work, but I have not done so for a long time. I have tried to return to it on several occasions, although I have not yet made enough room for it. For hiking in Bogotá, one of my favorite places is Quebrada La Vieja. I would also have to mention La Chorrera waterfall, which is outside the city but close enough to Bogotá to make it an excellent day trip. Your favorite book is the complete poems of Constantino P. Cavafis — probably not a typical pick in this industry. What draws you to his poetry, and is there a poem you keep coming back to? There is a personal story behind that book, which is one of the main reasons I chose it. There are many books I love and return to regularly, but this particular volume was a gift from a friend when I was a teenager, so it carries an additional emotional value for me. The poem I return to most often is “Ithaka.” The book, and that poem in particular, was and still is my friend’s invitation to remain present and appreciate the journey, even when the road becomes difficult. If someone had 24 hours with you and had never visited, where would you take them in Bogotá? I would tell them to bring a good pair of boots or comfortable shoes. We would start early with a traditional hot chocolate with cheese, and then I would take them outside the city. Bogotá is fortunate to be surrounded by flower farms, vegetable and fruit growers, and even small coffee farms. Many of these places are run by wonderful people who are happy to welcome visitors and show them the best of their land. It is an unforgettable experience and one I recommend to anyone who has the opportunity to visit. If you could invite any five people, living or dead, to dinner, who would be at the table?
