Group files suit against U.S. Attorney General The Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (iMEGA) filed a lawsuit yesterday, seeking to stop the U.S. from enforcing the UIGEA. The suit names U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Reserve System as defendants. Hearing scheduled on U.S. Internet gambling regs. The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing entitled "Can Internet Gambling Be Effectively Regulated to Protect Consumers and the Payments System?" on Friday, June 8 at 10 a.m. Chairman Barney Frank's IGREA will likely be a main topic of discussion. NETeller agrees to U.S. customer distribution plan NETeller has agreed to a distribution plan for returning seized monies to U.S. customers and hopes to implement the plan no later than mid-July, according to a press release issued Monday. U.S. authorities seized up to $55 million from U.S. NETeller accounts earlier this spring. PartyGaming in U.S. gambling crackdown talks PartyGaming has been in talks with U.S. authorities as it attempts to find out whether it could face prosecution for taking bets in the United States before last year's effective ban on Internet gambling. BingoScotland.com dismisses smoking ban impact BingoScotland.com has dismissed claims that the forthcoming smoking ban in England will see a rush of players move online. A spokesperson for Bingo Scotland said there was a small increase in May, but added that many bingo-hall smokers are older, making the online transition difficult. Celebrity photo shoot open to Absolute Poker players News surrounding the 2007 Aruba Poker Classic just got hotter. Absolute Poker players who win their way to the tournament through Absolute will receive exclusive access to Serinda Swan's private bikini photo shoot. |
