  Invasion of the Swedes It appears that the Swedes have invaded my life. I can't seem to stay away from these amazing people - they're magnetic I tell you! Several weeks ago we started interviewing for a position here at the GPWA and Online Casino City and there was one candidate that I particularly enjoyed. After the interview, as somewhat of a warning I suppose, I provided this young man with a link to my articles on Casino City Times. One day later, I received a thank you note in the mail, and much to my delight, he signed off with, "P.S. - I'm Swedish." Yep. You're hired. California man petitions for state-run online poker Anthony "Tuff Fish" Sandstrom received approval last week from the California Secretary of State's Office to circulate a petition that would create a state-run online poker room working in conjunction with the state's lottery system. AOL enters online sports betting market A few months after Yahoo U.K. & Ireland entered the real money online poker market, AOL U.K. has announced that it's entering online gambling as well, offering real-money sports betting in conjunction with U.K. Internet bookmaker JAXX. IMEGA's chances of success remote A legal expert explains that although there is a lot of buzz around IMEGA's suit to obtain a temporary restraining order to stop the U.S. from implementing regulations to enforce the UIGEA, the organization's chances of success are remote. $4.8 million online jackpot awarded Heinrich S. won a $4,801,527 progressive jackpot late last month after making a $10 bet at African Palace Casino. The Playtech-designed WinaJackpot.com is the first progressive jackpot network to combine land-based and online slots. Sealand launches online casino The Principality of Sealand announced last week the opening of Sealandcasino.com, its first online casino. The site is offering either a 100% match bonus for all first deposits or a £100 sign-up bonus to commemorate the opening. Doyle launches site in Europe The "Godfather of Poker" Doyle Brunson will be in London in September to help launch his new-look poker room DoylesRoom across the U.K. and Europe. His promotional visit will coincide with the first World Series of Poker Europe. The new DoylesRoom will not accept U.S. players. Do you experience summer affiliate revenue doldrums?
At Casino City, we've noticed that our revenue has historically dipped during the summer. For example, in 2006, our revenue for the months of July and August was almost 20% less than our revenue for the months of May and June. And this year the seasonal fluctuation appears to be nearly identical to last year. Comparing our revenue this year with last year enables us to come to the conclusion that we are just observing normal seasonal fluctuations for our business rather than experiencing an erosion in our revenue stream. What sort of revenue change did you observe last summer (July and August) as compared with the previous couple months (May and June)?
