GPWA wins the Battle of the Forums
Green DragonHurray to the mighty Emerald Dragon who was basking in victory over CAP following the Battle of the Forums slot tournament sponsored by ReferBack in December. More than $5,000 in prize money was awarded and when the dust settled, eight of the 10 knights standing on the battlefield were from the GPWA, led by bpolan99 who took home $700. Congratulations to all of the knights who were victors.

GPWA is heading to CAP Euro in London
The GPWA will be attending the third CAP Euro conference in London on Jan. 24-27, and we encourage all of you to attend. The conference is free for all GPWA portal webmasters who register in advance. The GPWA will also have a stand at the conference, so be sure to stop by and say hello. If you're planning to attend the conference, let other GPWA members know by posting in the conference thread here.

Germany begins online gambling ban
At least 13 of Germany's 16 states ratified legislation that bans any form of Internet-based gambling with companies outside of Germany starting Jan. 1.

PokerStars continues to set live-player records
The final days of 2007 proved to be a record-setting time for the popular online poker room as it drew more than 20,000 simultaneous real-money players twice in four days.

IGCE '08 focuses on legal issues
The International Gaming Conference & Expo, scheduled to be held in Portugal on April 22-24, will focus on the laws and regulations that govern online gaming.

Mansioncasino.com rings in the New Year
A different promotion will be offered to Mansion players every day in January. The fun began on New Year's Day with the 'Bonus Bang' promotion when $2,008 was awarded to the new player who won the most money on Jan. 1.

Bad Beat Jackpot players claim millions
Absolute Poker announced last week that more than $6.5 million has been awarded in Bad Bead Jackpot winnings since it began offering the game on June 22, 2007.

The iPoker Network's largest poker room has seen its prize pools rise on a daily basis since it staged the $1,000,000 Guaranteed Prize tournament in December.
